The Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated it is “unperturbed” by the defection of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
This response comes after El-Rufai announced his resignation from the APC on Monday, citing dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership and its unwillingness to address his concerns.
“We are unperturbed by former governor Nasir El-Rufai’s defection to another party,” stated Yahaya Pate, Secretary of the Kaduna State APC chapter.
“Our focus in Kaduna is on how to deliver the state to both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani come 2027.”
The statement emphasises the APC’s determination to maintain its political stronghold in Kaduna State, despite El-Rufai’s departure.
The party’s leadership has made it clear that its primary objective is to secure victory for President Tinubu and Governor Sani in the upcoming 2027 elections.
“The APC in Kaduna remains united and focused on its goals,” Pate added.
“We are committed to serving the people of Kaduna State and ensuring the continued success of our party.”
The swift reaction from the APC suggests an attempt to minimise the impact of El-Rufai’s defection and project an image of stability and resolve within the party.
