The Gombe State Commission for Persons with Disabilities (GSCPWD) has distributed mobility devices to students across the state in partnership with the Qatar Charity Organisation as part of efforts to promote inclusion and independence among persons with disabilities.
The initiative, held on Thursday, October 24, 2025, provided electric wheelchairs and white guide canes to beneficiaries with physical and visual impairments to support their education and daily mobility.
Executive Chairman of the Commission, Ishiyaku Adamu, praised Qatar Charity for its humanitarian collaboration and commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his continuous support to the disability community.

โThese devices are valuable and life-changing,โ Ishiyaku said.
โI urge beneficiaries to handle them with care, make the best use of them, and keep praying for our partners and our Governor, who has remained a true friend of persons with disabilities.โ
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Aishatu Aliyu Usman, mother of one of the student recipients, expressed deep gratitude for the intervention.
โThis is truly a dream come true,โ she said emotionally.
โFor years, I carried my daughter Khadija on my back because we couldnโt afford an electric wheelchair. Today, she has oneโfree of charge. Itโs a life-changer for our family.โ
Ishiyaku assured that similar empowerment programmes are underway for other disability clusters across the state, emphasising that Gombe, under Governor Inuwa Yahaya, remains committed to building a more inclusive and empowered society for all.
