Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum on Tuesday praised Nigerian agricultural engineers for their innovations in advancing farm mechanization and food security.

Speaking at the 25th International Conference and 45th AGM of the Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers (NIAE) held at the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), Idofian, AbdulRazaq said the state’s investment in mechanization has empowered over 10,000 farmers with tractors, ploughs, and processing equipment.

“Our vision is to make agriculture attractive, profitable, and fully mechanized,” he said.

“NIAE has been instrumental in designing affordable machines that boost productivity and reduce post-harvest losses.”

Governor Zulum, who delivered the keynote address, commended the NIAE and NCAM for “their consistent drive to strengthen local capacity through research and innovation,” noting that Nigeria’s food future depends on technology-led agriculture.

The event was also attended by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, engineers, and researchers from across the country.

AbdulRazaq was honored with an Award of Excellence by NIAE for his administration’s contributions to agricultural transformation and mechanization.

Later, the two governors joined the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, at the commissioning of the Imam Gambari Ultra-modern Mosque, where they were received by traditional and religious leaders.
