The Adamawa State House of Assembly has repealed the 2014 Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission Law, replacing it with a new bill aimed at improving Hajj operations.
The assembly passed the Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission Law 2025 during Wednesday’s plenary session.
Majority Leader, Hon. Mrs Kate Raymond Mamuno, presented the bill for its third reading.

The House committee on public petition, public service, and electoral matters found the new law would “improve and enhance hajj operations and improve discipline, training, and retraining of the commission staff,” according to assembly sources.
The committee also noted the bill aligns Adamawa with National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) guidelines, granting the state a “full status” Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission.
“After considering the importance of the bill”, Majority Leader Mamuno moved for its third reading, seconded by Deputy Speaker Mohammed Buba Jijjiwa.
Speaker Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, who presided over the session, confirmed the bill’s passage.
He directed the clerk to forward a clean copy to the executive arm for assent.
