Adamawa Gov’t Approves Funds Review, Discusses Land Compensation, Coronation Ceremonies

The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved a review, reconciliation, and recovery of funds owed to the state government, particularly concerning Project Gazelle at the Nigeria Governors’ Forum on Monday.

Project Gazelle is a $3.3 billion crude oil-backed finance facility sponsored by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC).

Briefing reporters after Monday’s meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. James Iliya, said the review and reconciliation were approved to ensure the state government receives all accrued funds.

The council also discussed compensation for individuals whose land will be used for the construction of government science and secondary schools in Madagali and Hong Local Government Areas.

“Compensation will be provided to those whose houses or other property are impacted by the school construction,” the Commissioner stated.

Hon. Iliya announced the upcoming coronation ceremonies for two Emirs and Chiefs.

“The state government invites the public to the coronation of the Ptil Madagali, HRM Dr. Ali Danburam, on 19 February in Gulak, and HRH Prof. Bulus Luka Gadiga, Mbege Ka Michika in Michika on 20 February 2025,” he said.

He explained that the coronation of the new Emirs and Chiefs aims to enhance the state’s security architecture, bring leadership closer to the people, and ensure a government presence is felt in the affected communities and the state as a whole.
