The Adamawa state government held a consultative meeting with Fulani stakeholders in collaboration with the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Project (L-PRES) on Tuesday to prepare for an upcoming mass livestock vaccination exercise.
The Commissioner for Livestock and Fisheries/Aquaculture, Alhaji Tijjani Maksha, presided over the meeting at the ministry in Yola on Tuesday.
The meeting was aimed at preparing for an upcoming mass vaccination exercise for livestock across the state.
The vaccination campaign aims to combat foot and mouth disease (FMD), contagious bovine pleuropneumonia (CBPP), and hemorrhagic septicaemia (HS).
The commissioner promised to work closely with Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to ensure the success of the vaccination campaign.
The meeting was attended by key representatives from various Fulani ethnic groups, such as Tabbital Pulaku, Meyetti Allah Kautal Hore, MACBAN, Fulbe Skills, Kautal Bandirabe, and TP. Jonde Jam.
Also in attendance were ministry officials, including the Director of Veterinary Services and Epidemiology (DVS), the Director of Veterinary Public Health (DVPH), and the State Projects Coordinator (L-PRES).
The L-PRES- SPC highlighted the significant achievements of the World Bank-funded L-PRES project in Adamawa State, including the distribution of motorcycles to veterinary officers, crusher machines for cooperative groups, and the construction of hand pumps and solar-powered boreholes.
The DVS emphasised the importance of the L-PRES project and highlighted the upcoming flag-off campaigns for the FMD, CBPP, and HS vaccination exercises by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri across the state.
