The Adamawa State Ministry of Health and Human Services has reported a measles outbreak affecting several local government areas.
The Commissioner Felix Tangwame addressed the media after a state executive council meeting, revealing concerns about the outbreak’s impact.
Mubi North and Gombi local governments appear to be the most affected. Mubi has reported 131 cases with 42 deaths across 8 wards.
Similarly, Gombi has reported 177 cases with a death toll of 42 across 7 wards.
Authorities have placed all local governments, except Lamurde, on high alert to address the potential spread of the disease.
Commissioner Tangwame assured the public that the ministry, along with partners, is actively managing the situation.
He urged residents to be vigilant about their surroundings and take necessary precautions against measles.
