The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State has distanced itself from the planned nationwide hunger protest, warning its members to shun the demonstration.

This decision was made during an emergency stakeholders meeting attended by party chieftains and 226 ward chairmen at the Government House Banquet Hall.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, represented by Secretary to the State Government Barrister Awwal Tukur, acknowledged the public’s hardships but emphasized that violence is not the solution, given the country’s fragile security situation. He assured that his administration is working to alleviate the people’s suffering.

The State PDP Chairman, Barrister Tahir Shehu, cautioned members against participating in the protest, citing the devastating aftermath of the Endsars protest. He expressed concerns that hoodlums might hijack the demonstration, causing chaos in the state.

The Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Suleiman Ahmed, pledged that council chairmen would prevent the planned protest in their respective areas.

The Adamawa PDP’s stance is aimed at maintaining peace and order in the state, amidst growing concerns about national security and public welfare.
