Adamawa Police Arrest Man, 35, for Alleged Defilement of 5-Year-Old Girl

The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended a 35-year-old man, Abdullaziz Mohammed, for allegedly sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl in Mubi North Local Government Area.

This is contained in a statement issued by SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, Police Public Relations Officer, Adamawa State Police Command, on Tuesday.

The arrest followed a complaint lodged by the victim’s father at the Mubi North Divisional Police Headquarters.

According to the report, on March 17, 2025, the suspect lured the young girl into his grinding engine shop at Kasuwan Borkono, Mubi North, and “had unlawful carnal knowledge of her, knowing fully well that she is a minor.”

“This is a heinous crime, and we are determined to ensure that justice is served,” stated SP Nguroje.

Upon receiving the report, Commissioner of Police CP Dankombo Morris deployed police operatives from the Mubi Division, resulting in the swift arrest of the suspect.

The victim was immediately taken to a medical facility in Mubi for examination and treatment. “The victim’s well-being is our utmost priority,” SP Nguroje emphasised.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and was taken into custody for further investigation.

CP Morris has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yola for a “thorough and diligent investigation.”

“We will leave no stone unturned in our pursuit of justice for this young victim,” CP Morris asserted. “This case will be investigated with the utmost seriousness.”

The Adamawa State Police Command reiterated its commitment to fighting all forms of sexual abuse and gender-based violence.

The Command urged parents and guardians to “closely monitor their children and report individuals with questionable character to the police.”

“We implore parents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity,” SP Nguroje said. “Together, we can create a safer environment for our children.”

The Command has vowed to continue its relentless pursuit of sexual offenders, sending a clear message that such crimes will not be tolerated in Adamawa State.
