The Adamawa State Executive Council, presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has approved six key projects worth N43.8 billion.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Jamesmawuri Iliya, disclosed this at a press briefing after the council meeting on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
The council has approved the construction of three mega senior science secondary schools in Lamurde, Gulak, and Hong local government areas at a cost of N17.1 billion, aiming to boost education infrastructure in the state.
Additionally, the expansion of the remaining section of Galadima Aminu Way and the construction of an underpass at the Fire Service Roundabout in Yola, the state capital, have been approved at a cost of N13.8 billion.
The project is expected to be completed within 18 months.
The council also approved the construction of a 7.5-kilometre road with bridges from Mararraba Garta to Kamale in Michika LGA at a cost of N4.3 billion, with a completion period of 18 months.
Furthermore, the construction of a 14-kilometre Sukur road in Madagali LGA has been approved at a cost of N2.5 billion, with a 12-month completion period.
Provision of electricity and portable water supply for 5,000 residents of Fintiri 1000 housing units, Malkohi in Yola South LGA, has also been approved at a cost of N854 million and N832 million, respectively.
Lastly, the council has approved a N630 million counterpart fund for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which will enable the state government to access N1.2 billion to fund critical projects such as water supply.
