The Kano State Police Command has debunked claims circulating on social media that a suspected kidnapper known as “Ali Kwara” was recently arrested, describing the footage as an old interview from 2019.

According to a statement issued on 26 November 2025 by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the video was recorded at the Bompai Police Headquarters during a media briefing led by the late journalist Abubakar Dahiru Yakasai and then–Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations, now retired CP Balarabe Sule.

Kiyawa said the suspect was arrested in 2019 at Diga, Panshekara Quarters, for alleged involvement in kidnappings and armed robberies.

“He voluntarily confessed during the investigation, and the media interaction was part of efforts to keep the public informed about our operations at that time,” the PPRO explained.

He cautioned residents against spreading misleading content. “We urge the public to stay calm and avoid sharing videos that can cause panic or fear within the community,” he said.
