The Nigerian Army has intensified its nationwide crackdown on terrorists, insurgents, and economic saboteurs, killing seven suspects and arresting 27 others in a string of coordinated operations across the country within 48 hours.
The operations, according to Army spokesperson Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, were carried out in line with the directive of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, who recently visited the Northeastto boost troopsโ morale and push for total elimination of terrorist networks.
โOur troops are maintaining the momentum and taking the fight directly to the enemyโs hideouts. These operations demonstrate the armyโs renewed commitment to national security,โ Nwachukwu said.
In Borno State, troops of Operation Hadin Kai arrested 12 terror logistics collaborators in Monguno, while others ambushed Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters along the GwozaโLimankara axis, killing three and recovering weapons. Another terrorist was gunned down in Damboa during an attempted infiltration.
In Kaduna and Niger States, troops under Operation Enduring Peace neutralised two terrorists and arrested four suspects linked to civilian killings in Plateau State.
Security sources said another terrorist scout was eliminated in Niger during a clearance raid.
Troops in the South-South also disrupted illegal oil refining activities, recovering thousands of litres of stolen crude in Abia, Imo, and Delta States.
In Sapele, Delta State, three suspects, including one posing as a soldier, were arrested with fake military uniforms and charms.
The Army said the operations underscore its determination under Lt Gen Shaibuโs leadership to dismantle all threats to peace and stability across Nigeria.
โThis is a new phase in our operations. We will sustain the pressure until every criminal network is destroyed,โ Nwachukwu added.
The army urged citizens to continue providing credible intelligence to aid the ongoing nationwide offensive.
