Upon advancing to the general area, contact was made with the bandits around Garbatau, Garin Hamidu, Bandaguri, and Mayokan villages, leading to a fierce gun battle.

The exchange resulted in the neutralisation of two terrorists, while several others are believed to have escaped with gunshot wounds.

Following the encounter, the troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, four rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one single-barrel Dane gun, 27 arrows, and six cutlasses.

In a separate operation on the same day in Ibi LGA, troops conducted a clearance patrol targeting suspected bandits’ hideouts near Yamiri Village in Sarkin Kudu Ward.

Upon sighting the advancing troops, the criminals fled in disarray, abandoning their camp.

A subsequent search of the area yielded one military woodland camouflage uniform and one Bible. The troops proceeded to destroy all identified camps to prevent the criminals from re-establishing operational bases in the area.

The Commander 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, lauded the troops for their bravery and reaffirmed the Brigade’s unwavering commitment to ensuring lasting peace and security throughout Taraba State.

He also urged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing military operations.
