Army Showcases Readiness as Mugun Bugu IV Ends in Katsina

The Nigerian Army has concluded the 2025 Exercise Mugun Bugu IV with a firepower demonstration in Faskari, Katsina State.

This is according to a statement issued on 20 November 2025 by Major Godfrey Anebi Abakpa, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Nigerian Army Training Centre.

The closing event, held at the Angwan Machika Grand Stand, featured a deliberate attack simulation and coordinated drills involving multiple army formations.

Major General Peter Malla, Commander of Training and Doctrine Command, who represented the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, said the exercise reflected the Armyโ€™s โ€œoperational readiness, strategic cohesion, and unwavering commitment to defending Nigeria.โ€

He added that the firepower drills crowned โ€œweeks of rigorous planning, coordination, and execution designed to simulate real-world counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations.โ€

Katsina State Governor, Umar Dikko Radda, praised the army for conducting the training in a frontline area affected by insecurity.

โ€œYour presence and commitment give our people hope,โ€ he said. โ€œThis exercise shows the Nigerian Army is determined to restore peace in Faskari and beyond.โ€

Commander of the Nigerian Army Training Centre, Major General Abubakar Garba Haruna, thanked troops for their efforts, noting that Exercise Mugun Bugu, meaning โ€œdeadly strikeโ€, was strategically hosted in Faskari to target bandit activities.

โ€œOur troops dealt a decisive blow to criminal elements during the exercise,โ€ he said.

The event also featured souvenir presentations, cultural performances, an after-action review, and a campfire to mark the end of the three-week field operation.
