In a bid to boost the welfare of soldiers and their families, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has commissioned a newly constructed Infantry Model Command Day Secondary School (IMCDSC) and 17 blocks of accommodation in Jaji Military Cantonment, Kaduna.
The COAS inaugurated the projects on Friday, 21 February 2025, while concluding a 5-day operations tour of the North West theatre of operations.
According to General Oluyede, the projects were initiated to address the gaps in the quality of post-primary education and the acute shortage of accommodation within the cantonment.
“As the Corps Commander Infantry, I realised the need for quality education and decent accommodation for our soldiers and their families. As the Chief of Army Staff, I am committed to ensuring the welfare of our personnel, and these projects are a testament to that commitment,” General Oluyede said.
The COAS expressed optimism that the school will produce students who will become professionals and contribute positively to the nation’s growth and development.
He also advised the students to strive for excellence, remain disciplined, and pursue career paths that will add value to national development.
Major General Abdulkalifa Ibrahim, Commander Infantry Corps, described the projects as a rich legacy that will rejuvenate the quality of education given to officers and soldiers’ children in the cantonment. He thanked the COAS for the initiative and successful completion of the projects.
The school and accommodation facilities are expected to improve the living conditions and educational opportunities for soldiers and their families in Jaji Cantonment.
