The Adamawa State Police Command has warned it will enforce a statewide ban on power bike and vehicle racing as reckless driving continues to fuel deadly road crashes across highways and urban roads.
Police Public Relations Officer SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, speaking for the Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris, said in a statement on Sunday, 11, 2026, that investigations link most recent fatalities to speeding, dangerous overtaking, unlicensed riders and illegal racing.
โThe Command will not tolerate power bike or vehicle racing on public roads,โ Morris said.
โAnyone found engaging in these acts will be arrested and prosecuted.โ
He ordered the Central Motor Traffic Division, divisional police officers and field commanders to intensify patrols and surveillance at identified flashpoints statewide.
Police urged residents to report reckless driving and asked parents, transport unions and vehicle owners to caution drivers and riders on the consequences of traffic violations.
