At least four people were killed and 34 others injured on Thursday when Boko Haram terrorists infiltrated a protest near A.A Kime Filling Station along Baga Road in Maiduguri.

The Borno State Police Command confirmed the attack, stating that the assailants disrupted the protest, leading to the casualties.

The injured and deceased victims were immediately transported to the Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri for medical attention and autopsies.

In response to the incident, security operatives were swiftly deployed to the scene to secure the area and prevent further attacks. A curfew has been imposed on the entire state by the Borno State Governor to restore order.

The protest, which involved primarily young children, had escalated into a violent riot with protesters blocking major roads and vandalizing public property. The police said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the protest and the subsequent attack, with fourteen suspects already in custody.

The Borno State Government has condemned the attack and extended condolences to the families of the victims. Efforts are underway to provide support to the injured and displaced persons.
