Bandits Kill Traditional Ruler in Taraba

Unidentified assailants attacked and killed Chief Auwal Wali, the traditional ruler of Gidan Usmanu Village, in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State on Tuesday.
 
Military authorities confirmed the attack through a statement issued by Colonel Oni Olubodunde, spokesperson for the Army’s 6 Brigade. 
 
Colonel Olubodunde expressed condolences to the family of the slain leader and pledged to apprehend those responsible.
 
The statement further detailed an operational visit conducted by Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade/Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke, to remote areas within Lau and Karim Lamido Local Government Councils. 
 
The purpose of the visit was to reassure residents of the military’s commitment to their safety and strengthen collaboration with communities to eliminate criminal activity in the region. 
 
“We are here to offer our condolences to the people of Gidan Usmanu and reiterate our unwavering dedication to the safety and well-being of all Taraba State residents,” Brigadier General Uwa was quoted as saying. “Your cooperation is vital to our mission, and we will continue to work together to ensure a secure environment for everyone.”
 
General Uwa emphasised the importance of residents reporting any suspicious activity to facilitate a swift response.The Chairman of Karim-Lamido Local Government Council and the Chief of Wurkun District expressed their appreciation for the military’s ongoing support and commended the positive relationship between the military and the people of Karim-Lamido. 
 
The Taraba State Police Command has yet to comment on the attack.
