Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed Pledges Changes Implementation To Protesters

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has assured protesters that their grievances have been heard and noted and that his administration will implement changes to address their concerns.

Speaking after an emergency security meeting with heads of security agencies, traditional institutions, and religious groups, Governor Mohammed acknowledged that peaceful demonstrations are a reflection of democracy but emphasised the need to safeguard innocent citizens and prevent the collapse of law and order.

The meeting was convened in response to the recent protests that have affected Bauchi metropolis and the outskirts of Katagum Local Government Area, resulting in violent clashes with authorities.

Governor Mohammed cautioned disruptors and instigators, stating that the failure of the federal government is a collective failure of all levels of government and that his administration is committed to making amendments to reconnect with the people despite the trust deficit in the country.

He highlighted his administration’s efforts to improve the lives of citizens, including the construction of over 7,000 classrooms, the payment of salaries and promotions, the construction of over 1,500 kilometres of roads, and the building of 313 functional primary healthcare centres (PHCs).

The governor also declared a state of emergency in Azare, thanking Allah for minimising the violence and expressing appreciation to stakeholders for their commitment and sportsmanship.
