Police in Bauchi State have apprehended four suspects in connection with the kidnapping and tragic death of a six-year-old boy, Shuaibu Safiyanu, in Sade village, Darazo Local Government Area.
This is contained in a statement issued by CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakili, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), on Saturday.
According to the statement, the incident was reported on March 20, 2025, when Safiyanu Abdullahi reported his son missing to the village head, Musa Isah.
Later the same day, Mr Abdullahi received a ransom demand of ₦3,000,000 from an unknown caller, which was later reduced to ₦200,000.
Detectives from the Darazo Divisional Police Headquarters swiftly launched an investigation. Their efforts led to a breakthrough at a nearby POS site, where, on March 21, 2025, 23-year-old Rabi’u Muhammadu from Leka village was arrested.

He was found to be in possession of the phone number and account number used to make the ransom demands.
During questioning, Rabi’u Muhammadu identified Samson Ozoichikel, 35, from Sade village, as the alleged mastermind of the kidnapping.
He also implicated two other suspects: Muhammad Sani, 25, also known as Jingi, and Musa Usman, 30, known as Kala, both from Leka village. All four suspects are now in police custody.
Tragically, on March 21, 2025, the body of Shuaibu Safiyanu was discovered in a nearby bush. A rope was found tied around his neck.
The remains were taken to the General Hospital, where a medical doctor confirmed his death. The body has since been released to the family for burial according to Islamic rites.
The Commissioner of Police for Bauchi State has assured the community of the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice in this distressing case.
The investigation is ongoing, and the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further examination.
