Bauchi Police Arrest 6 Suspects For Vandalism, GBV

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested six individuals for various offences, including electric cable theft and gender-based violence.

This was disclosed by CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil explained in a statement issued on Tuesday.

According to the statement police operatives intercepted Hamza Mohammed and Mustapha Sa’idu On December 25, 2024, while stealing two vehicle tyres and two bags of cement from a residence in Rafin Tambari area of Bauchi.

Further investigation revealed that the same individuals, along with Aliyu Musa, were involved in the vandalism of an electric aluminium conductor belonging to the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED) at Tambari Housing Estate on January 14, 2025.

“During the investigation, both suspects freely confessed to the crime committed, and it was further revealed that the suspects had already negotiated with one Al-ameen Ibrahim to purchase the stolen items,” a police statement said.

The police have recovered the stolen items and are investigating the matter further in collaboration with the JED.

In a separate incident, on January 25, 2025, police in Kirfi arrested Shehu Isah for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl.

Similarly, on January 16, 2025, police in Ningi arrested Shafi’u Sule for allegedly abducting a ten-year-old girl and threatening to harm her.

“During interrogation, the suspect willingly corroborated the victim’s statement,” the statement said.

The Commissioner of Police has directed that both cases be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and subsequent prosecution.
