The Bauchi State Police Command has launched a comprehensive investigation into the death of 20-year-old Hajara Isa, who died in her matrimonial home on February 28, 2025.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the Bauchi State Command PPRO disclosed that the incident was reported to the police on March 3, 2025, by Sale Isa, raising suspicions about the circumstances surrounding Hajara’s death.

Family members suspect her co-wife may be involved.

“Commissioner of Police Auwal Musa Muhammad has assigned a specialised team to investigate this case,” stated CSP Wakil.

According to the statement, the accused, Fatima Mohammed, a 28-year-old co-wife, has been arrested in connection with the death.

“Preliminary findings suggest Fatima Mohammed is implicated in Hajara’s death,” CSP Wakil said.

“During questioning, she reportedly admitted to strangling her and attempting to conceal the crime by pouring boiled water and burning her body.”

The investigation will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough examination. “We are committed to ensuring justice is served,” CSP Wakil affirmed.

CP Auwal Musa Muhammad has assembled a team of experienced homicide detectives to gather all relevant information.

“This team will conduct a professional, diligent, and timely investigation,” CSP Wakil said.

“This may involve exhumation and the use of essential technical and scientific tools.”
