Bauchi Police Launch Probe After Missing Woman Found Dead

The Bauchi State Police Command has begun a discreet investigation into the death of 24-year-old Fatima Salihu Mohammed, who was reported missing last week.

Police spokesman CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil said in a statement on Monday, September 29, 2025, that Fatimaโ€™s decomposing body was discovered on a maize farm within the Federal Polytechnic staff quarters, Birshin Fulani.

Fatima, daughter of Salihu Mohammed Chimo, was last seen on September 24 after she went to buy groceries but never returned home.

According to the statement, her corpse was discovered by a resident who noticed a foul odour on the farm. Detectives identified the body with her groceries still beside her.

Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, ordered a full homicide investigation.

โ€œWe are committed to unraveling the circumstances of Fatimaโ€™s death and bringing whoever is responsible to justice,โ€ he said.

The remains have since been released to her family for burial.
