Borno: 867 Teachers Complete Intensive Training

A total of 867 primary school teachers have successfully completed a three-month intensive training program aimed at improving their pedagogical skills in Borno State.

The program, which was conducted at the College of Education Waka Biu, is part of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum’s educational reform initiatives.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, the State Commissioner for Education, Engr. Lawan Abba Wakilbe, commended the graduates for their dedication and hard work.

He assured them that the state government would consider proposals for their upgrade.

The Emir of Biu, HRH Mai Mustafa Umar Mustafa, represented by the Birma of Biu, Hon. Ibrahim Shehu Birma, urged the graduates to utilize their newly acquired skills to enhance teaching and learning in their respective schools.

However, the provost of the College of Education, Waka Biu, Dr. Gambo Saljaba, noted that 63 participants had absconded and 183 had failed the training. Despite this, he praised the overall conduct of the participants.

The Permanent Secretary of the Borno State Universal Basic Education Board (BOSUBEB), Dr. Hyleni Mshelia, congratulated all participants and promised to expedite the formal process of their upgrade.

The Chairman of the Borno State NUT, Comr. Zali Garba Audu, expressed his appreciation for the state government’s investment in teacher development and urged the graduates to apply their new knowledge to improve teaching and learning.

He also thanked the government for providing a monthly stipend of 30,000 Naira to teachers during the training.

The Forum for Education Secretaries, represented by Prof. Umar Goni, encouraged the graduates to remain dedicated to their profession and strive for excellence.
