Borno Governor Zulum, Transmits Power to Deputy Kadafur

In an extraordinary session on Friday, the Borno State House of Assembly received an executive communication from Governor Zulum, announcing his decision to proceed on a one-month vacation, effective June 10th to July 8th, 2024.

According to the Speaker, Honourable Abdulkarim Lawan, the transfer of power to Deputy Governor Alhaji Umar Kadafur is in accordance with the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended). This move ensures the continuity of governance and the smooth operation of state affairs during the Governor’s absence.

Governor Zulum commended the harmonious relationship between the Executive and Legislative branches.

This is not the first time the Governor has transferred power to his Deputy, having done so previously during his first tenure when he performed the annual Hajj pilgrimage.

Consequently, the House Leader, Honourable Dige Muhammad, moved a motion for the legislators to recess until July 9th, 2024, which was seconded by Honourable Yakubu Kimba.”
