The Borno State government has announced plans to allocate 113 hectares of land to private developers to address the need for affordable housing in the state.
This was disclosed in a statement released by SA Media BOGIS, Halima Abatcha Jarawa on Thursday.
The statement explained that, Engr. Adam Bukar Bababe, the Executive Secretary of the Borno Geographic Information Service announced the decision during a meeting with Green Path Development, a private development company.
The land is part of a larger 2,000-hectare area located near the newly flagged off Maiduguri Ring Road. The government plans to use the allocated land to construct 1,000 houses.

This initiative aligns with Governor Babagana Umara Zulum’s urban renewal agenda, which prioritizes the revitalization of urban spaces and the improvement of living conditions for Borno State residents.
The government aims to provide accessible housing solutions to a wider segment of the population through the construction of these 1,000 houses, thereby mitigating the housing challenges faced by many residents in the state.
Engr. Bababe urged Green Path Development to submit detailed project proposals for government review and approval.
He also emphasized the importance of considering Maiduguri’s cultural aspects and designing projects that resonate with the local culture.
Dr. Babagana Mohammed, the Group Managing Director of Green Path Development, commended Governor Zulum for his commitment to engaging the private sector. He pledged to deliver high-quality housing solutions using modern construction techniques and materials.
Green Path Development will ensure compliance with local building codes and land regulations while meeting the needs of the community.
Architects Mustapha Gambomi and Engr. Abubakar Sandabe, along with Mr. Lanre, also contributed to the discussion. They elaborated on their approach, which involves conducting thorough site assessments and designing layouts that optimize space and functionality. They assured that all factors will be considered throughout the project execution.
