Borno State Commissioner of Education, Lawan Abba Wakilbe, has taken a strong stance against harmful practices by final-year secondary school students, particularly during their final exams.
Wakilbe convened a meeting with education stakeholders, including ANCOPSS, NAPS, and senior officials, to address vandalism, inappropriate clothing, and illegal gatherings by SSS3 students.
The Commissioner warned that schools found in violation will face severe consequences, including potential closure. Education Secretary Dr. Mala Kulloma and student leaders pledged to enforce strict measures, including withholding results from misbehaving students.
Wakilbe also sought police protection and collaboration with the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to prevent escalation and ensure student safety.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police and NSCDC Commandant pledged their support.
The move aims to prevent misconduct and ensure a safe and secure environment for final-year students in Borno State.
