Borno Police Commissioner Yusufu Lawal Retires

The Commissioner of Police for the Borno State Command, CP Yusufu Mohammed Lawal, has formally announced his retirement from the Nigeria Police Force after a distinguished career spanning 33 years.

In a personal press statement released on Monday, the Commissioner confirmed that his retirement took effect on Sunday, June 8, 2025.

In his farewell message, CP Lawal expressed profound gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for the privilege of leading the Borno State Command, a critical post in the nation’s security architecture.

He praised the IGP’s leadership, noting that his “transformational vision has been a clarion call to a more professional and citizen-focused Nigeria Police Force”.

He also extended his prayers for the IGP’s continued success as he marks two years in office.

“I wish to thank the entire police family and shall continue to foster communality in the overall interest of the Nigeria Police Force,” CP Lawal stated, while also thanking the Force Management Team for their support throughout his service.

He concluded by wishing his colleagues a successful and fulfilling career in the service of the nation.
