The Borno State Police Command has disbursed ₦63.4 million to 84 families of officers who died in active service, under the Group Life Insurance (GLI) and IGP Family Welfare Scheme.
This was disclosed on Thursday, October 30, 2025, in a statement by ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, Police Public Relations Officer, Borno State Command.
According to the statement, Commissioner of Police Naziru Abdulmajid, who represented the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, presented the cheques to the beneficiaries in Maiduguri.
“The welfare of our officers and their families remains a top priority for the Force,” CP Abdulmajid said.
“This initiative reflects the IGP’s compassion, accountability, and leadership in honouring those who sacrificed their lives for peace and security.”
He urged the beneficiaries to make wise use of the funds to support the education, healthcare, and general welfare of their families.
The Commissioner commended the Inspector-General for sustaining the welfare schemes, describing them as essential mechanisms that provide financial relief and stability to the families of fallen heroes.
Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Mrs Nana Goni thanked the Inspector-General of Police for his compassionate support, assuring that the funds would be used judiciously to improve their families’ livelihoods.
The initiative, according to the Command, reaffirms the Nigeria Police Force’s enduring commitment to the welfare and dignity of its officers and their families.
