Borno Police Rescue One as Search Continues for 13 Abducted Girls

The Borno State Police Command has confirmed that one of the 14 girls abducted in Askira-Uba local government has escaped and been rescued, while efforts continue to locate the remaining 13. 

The incident was disclosed in a statement issued on 23 November 2025 by the Command’s spokesperson, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso.

According to the statement, the District Head of Huyum reported on Saturday 22 November that the girls were abducted by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP gunmen, while working on a farm in Mussa District.

A combined team of police, military personnel, Civilian JTF, and vigilante hunters immediately launched a search-and-rescue operation.

“One of the victims escaped unharmed during the operation and was rescued,” Daso said.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, has urged residents to remain vigilant as security agencies intensify coordinated efforts to recover the remaining girls.

“Farmers and locals are advised to operate within areas covered by security patrols,” the statement noted.

The Command said further updates will be provided as the operation continues.
