The Borno State Ministry of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation has announced adjustments to the school calendar in observance of Ramadan.
All public and private schools are now directed to close daily by 1:00 PM throughout the holy month.
In a press release dated March 3, 2025, Dr. Abba Mala Galtimari, Director of School Services, announced the changes.
“In observance of the 1446AH Holy Month of Ramadan, all public and private schools are to close daily not later than 1:00 PM,” he stated.
Furthermore, the Ministry has extended the second term of the 2024/2025 academic session.
“All academic activities for the second term are to be concluded on or before Friday, March 21, 2025,” Dr. Galtimari confirmed.
Schools are scheduled to resume on Monday, April 2, 2025.
The directive was issued to various educational stakeholders, including the State Universal Basic Education Board, the Secondary Education Board, WAEC and NECO zonal offices, tertiary institutions, and all public and private schools in the state.
“All concerned are requested to comply with this directive,” Dr. Galtimari emphasised.
“We regret any inconveniences this may cause and appreciate your understanding.”
