Borno Sports Council Lauds Zulum, Buba Organises the First Ever U-17 Football Competition

The Borno State Sports Council has commended the administration of Governor Zulum and Commissioner of Sports, Comrade Saiina Buba, for their support of youth development in the state.

The commendation was expressed during the launch of the first ever Under-17 Football Competition in the state.

The competition, aimed at identifying young talents and selecting players to represent Borno State at the National Youth Games and National Sports Festivals.

A total of 32 teams from across the state are to compete in eight different groups. 

The opening ceremony and kick-off match were held at Ramat Square Football Field (Filin Sukuwa) in Maiduguri, the state capital.

The competition was officially kicked off with a ceremonial first kick by the Honourable Abubakar Ibrahim Babale, Chairman of the House Committee on Sports. 

The opening match resulted in a 1-0 victory for Metro FC against FC Cazoo.

In his welcome remarks, Alhaji Babagana Kalli Kachalah (Ozogler), The Chairman Borno State Football Association and Executive Member representing North East at Nigeria Football Federation, urged the youth to play by the rules, respect their coaches and leaders, and strive to become future stars who can represent the state competitively.

He also offered prayers for a safe and injury-free competition. 

Dignitaries including Honourable Abubakar Ibrahim Babale (Member representing Kwaya Kusar and Chairman House Committee on Sports),  and Honourable Danjuma Usman Ibrahim Elduim (Chairman Borno Veterans) graced the event.
