The Association of Master Bakers and Caterers of Nigeria, Borno State Chapter, announced a price increase for bread and other baked goods effective today.
The decision follows a rise in the cost of flour and other baking ingredients.
Alhaji Bukar Mustapha, Chairman of the Association, attributed the price hike to the current economic climate. “The price increase was unavoidable due to the significant rise in production costs, particularly flour,” Mustapha said in a statement.
The new pricing structure reflects an increase of over 20% across various bread varieties. Jumbo bread will now cost N240, up from N200. Round bread increases to N340 from N290, and Kalangu bread goes to N360 from N300. Other products like Carpet bread, Luxy bread, Marcopolo, and family bread see similar increases.
This price adjustment comes amid broader concerns about inflation in Nigeria. The rising cost of living is putting a strain on many households, and bread is a staple food for many Nigerians.
