Twenty-four students abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, in Sakaba LGA of Kebbi State have been rescued, security sources confirmed on Tuesday.

The students were freed following coordinated operations by a joint tactical team deployed after the November 17 abduction.

The teamโ€”drawn from intelligence agencies and the militaryโ€”was dispatched by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, with a mandate to secure the victimsโ€™ safe return.

Although details about the girlsโ€™ condition and the circumstances of their release have not yet been made public, sources said the rescue followed a sustained offensive.

According to one security source, dozens of armed bandits guarding the victims โ€œwithdrew in small numbers and fledโ€ after the tactical team โ€œengaged them using modern warfare technology.โ€

Further updates are expected as authorities continue clearance operations in the area.
