The Kano State Police Command has banned all Durbar activities during the 2025 Eid-El-Fitr Sallah celebrations, citing credible intelligence of planned security breaches.
Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori announced the decision at a press briefing on Friday.
“In pursuit of a safe and secure celebration and to sustain the relative peace and public order in the State, the Command, in liaison with other security agencies, having obtained and assessed the security situations in the State, especially the rising tension and uncertainties around the Durbar activities, particularly the tendency to plunge the State into anarchy, made necessary consultations,” Bakori stated.
He explained that the ban was a result of consultations with security stakeholders and intelligence reports indicating “orchestrated plans by recruited miscreants and their sponsors to use Durbar as a proxy to undermine security and public order.”
Bakori assured residents that adequate security measures were in place for Eid prayers at designated grounds.

He advised worshippers to avoid carrying suspicious objects and refrain from horse riding (Kilisa), car racing, and reckless driving.
He also urged parents to caution their children against being used by subversive elements.
“As we celebrate this joyous occasion, let us remember that peace is paramount,” Bakori said.
“We must prioritise peace above everything else, putting aside our differences and coming together as law-abiding citizens for the progress of the State and the nation at large.”
The command encouraged residents to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through emergency contact numbers.
