Brigadier General Samaila Mohammed Uba: Director of Defence Information

Brigadier General Samaila Mohammed Uba has officially assumed duty as the new Director of Defence Information (DDI), following a recent reorganisation within the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

He took over from Brigadier General Tukur Gusau in a brief handover ceremony held at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja.

Speaking after assuming office, Brigadier General Uba pledged to strengthen defence communication through โ€œunity of purpose, timeliness, transparency, digital innovation, and media collaboration.โ€

He commended his predecessor, Brigadier General Gusau, for what he described as โ€œmodest and impactful achievements in military public relationsโ€ and wished him success in future endeavours.

A seasoned military officer and communication strategist, Brigadier General Uba holds a bachelorโ€™s degree in mass communication from Bayero University, Kano, and a masterโ€™s in strategic and development studies from Bangladesh University of Professionals.

He is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management.

Before his new appointment, he served as Director, Department of Joint Studies at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, and previously commanded the 401 Special Forces Brigade in Borno State, where he earned praise for professionalism and effective civil-military cooperation.

Ubaโ€™s appointment is expected to further enhance the Defence Headquartersโ€™ media engagement and strategic communication efforts.
