The Yobe State Government, under the leadership of Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has provided financial support and learning tools to 127 law graduates from the state who have gained admission into the Nigerian Law School.
This was contained in a statement issued by Mamman Mohammed, the Director General of Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, on Tuesday.
Governor Buni presented each of the 127 graduates with a tuition fee of N475,000 and a brand-new laptop computer to aid their studies.
This gesture represents a total investment of over ₦60 million in the future legal professionals of the state.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Governor Buni highlighted his administration’s consistent commitment to education, stating, “I am glad to state that our government has been consistent in sponsoring students to pursue education both at home and abroad, with over 38,000 benefitting from the state scholarship scheme under this administration.”

He proudly noted that this event marks the fourth consecutive year that his administration has provided scholarships to law graduates for their mandatory Nigerian Law School programme.
The governor also provided an update on graduates in other fields, stating that “140 out of the 189 graduates who studied medical and allied courses in Indian universities have been employed, while the remaining 49 graduates will soon be absorbed.”
This underscores the government’s broader commitment to ensuring employment opportunities for its sponsored students.
Reaffirming his administration’s dedication to human capital development, Governor Buni assured that “government would continue to prioritise education and support every citizen of the state to pursue education at all levels.”
He further emphasised the government’s commitment to supporting professionals in other fields, stating, “Similarly, this administration would continue to support the pursuance of professional certificates at the Nigeria Law School to qualify our law graduates to practice as lawyers, accountants to obtain professional certificates at ANAN or ICAN, and for administrators at ASCON.”
Addressing the beneficiaries directly, Governor Buni charged them to be responsible and law-abiding students.
“You should abide by the rules and regulations of the institution and avoid issues that are detrimental to your studies,” he advised. “You should remain good ambassadors of the state to make us proud.”
