COAS Storms Kebbi, Orders Troops to Rescue 25 Abducted Schoolgirls

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, ordered troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA to intensify efforts to secure the release of 25 abducted students from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) Maga.

The COAS issued the directive on Monday, November 17, 2025, during an operational tour of the state.

Lieutenant General Shaibu charged frontline commanders to maintain a “relentless day-and-night pursuit” of the abductors.

Addressing the troops, Gen. Shaibu emphasised the critical nature of their mission: โ€œWe must find these children. Act decisively and professionally on all intelligence. Success is not optional,โ€ he stated.

General Shaibu also engaged local vigilantes. and hunters, describing them as crucial partners. He urged them to collaborate with troops and leverage their knowledge of the terrain to locate and neutralise criminal elements.

Earlier, the Army Chief paid a condolence visit to the Traditional Ruler of Danko, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Allaje, and the Principal of GGCSS Maga, Hajiya Rabi Musa Magaji, assuring them of the militaryโ€™s unwavering commitment to rescue the students unharmed.

The COAS enjoined the troops to remain resilient and professional, acting within the rules of engagement to restore peace to Kebbi State and surrounding areas.
