The Coca-Cola Foundation with the Nigerian Red Cross Society Borno State has distributed food and non-food items to victims of the September 10th 2024, Maiduguri flood disaster, mostly people with disability and the vulnerable.
Speaking Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga, the National President Nigerian Red Cross Society, during the flag off of the distribution, which took place on Monday 28th of January at the Maiduguri.
Prince Oluyemisi, represented by the Maiduguri Branch Chairman of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Dr Bulama Mali Gubio, said they were in the state to support the victims of the flood disasters.
He added the recent flood disaster in Maiduguri has brought immense hardship, families uprooted, homes destroyed, and countless lives disrupted. That was why NRCS’s mission is to stand at the forefront of relief and recovery by bringing hope and dignity to those seriously hit by the calamity.
Prince Oluyemisi Adeage explained that they have to come together not just as an individual but rather as a united force bound by a shared resolve to extend their compassion and hope to those in dire need of support and assistance to a sense of belonging.

He then added that the initiative, which is more than a relief effort, represents a lifeline for the most vulnerable and thanked the Coca-Cola Foundation for their collaboration throughout every global challenge.
He said, “With what I have seen today, all I can say is thank you to the organizers, the Coca-Cola Foundation. The interventions are timely; 2,100 victims of last year’s flood victims were supported with food and non-food items that can last them one month.
“This intervention is massive,, and we areexternallylly grateful to the donor.”He said.
Also, the Borno Branch Secretary of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Mohammed Zanna Barma, said NRCS is here to flag off the relief materials to the victims of the recent flood disaster through the support of the Coca-Cola foundation to 2,100 beneficiaries with emphasis on people with disabilities, elderly persons, child household as well as lactating mothers which is the criteria they used in selecting the beneficiaries.
Beneficiaries, in their separate remarks, thanked both the Nigerian Red Cross Society and the Coca-Cola Foundation for their immense contribution to uplifting their likelihood, which gives them a sense of belonging in society.
At the end of the event was the symbolic presentation of the relief material to the 2,100 beneficiaries which each went home with 25kg of rice, 25kg of maize, 10kg of beans, 4 litters of vegetable oil, a bucket, blanket, jerrycan, hygiene kits and One hundred thousand Naira cash token through a debit card.
