A devastating explosion occurred on Wednesday night at a local tea joint in a market in Kawuri, Konduga, leaving at least 19 people dead and dozens injured.
According to intelligence sources, the blast, which happened around 8:00 pm on July 31, was caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonated by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.
The attack took place in Kawuri community, approximately 50 kilometers from Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
Reports indicate that the suicide bomber had been living in the community for several days before carrying out the attack.
Emergency response teams were quickly deployed to the scene, evacuating the injured to receive medical treatment and transporting the corpses to the Primary Health Care Center.
The Police Explosive Ordnance Device (EOD) team was also dispatched to the area to ensure there were no further explosive devices.
While normalcy has been restored, joint security teams remain on high alert, exercising caution in the aftermath of the attack.
