The Kwara State Government joined the Muslim community in Ilorin on Sunday to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, with calls for unity and prayers for the state and the nation.
The Eid prayers, held at the Ilorin Central Praying Ground, were led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Solihu.
A delegation from the Kwara State Government, led by the Majority Leader of the Kwara House of Assembly, Hon. Abdulkadir Oba Magaji, attended the event.
“We urge all Kwarans and Nigerians to imbibe the lessons of Ramadan in the intervening months. We should be our brothers’ keepers, be peaceful in our conduct, and pray for peace and stability of Kwara State and Nigeria at large,” Hon. Magaji told reporters after the prayers.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who typically leads the delegation, was absent as he is currently performing the Lesser Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
Hon. Magaji called for continued support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor AbdulRazaq, stating that their leadership will guide the nation towards progress.
The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the State Traditional Council, Mai-Martaba Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, also attended the prayers, congratulating the people of the emirate and the state for a successful Ramadan and a peaceful Eid celebration.
He prayed for the safe return of Governor AbdulRazaq and commended the administration’s efforts towards peace and development.
Other notable attendees included senior government officials, Khalifatul Adaby Sheikh AbdulQodir Muhammad Kamaludeen, Prof. Shuaib Oba Abdulraheem, retired Justice Idris Haroon, APC Chieftain Alhaji Yahya Seriki, local government chairmen, and other dignitaries.
Alhaji Yahya Seriki urged the people of the Emirate to maintain unity and support the current administration.
The event was marked by peaceful prayers and a spirit of community, reinforcing the values of brotherhood and unity emphasized by the Kwara State Government.
