Former Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has dismissed as false a widely circulated online publication claiming he resigned because he “cannot stand and watch the US and Tinubu government bombing our brothers in the forest.”

He made the rebuttal in a statement personally signed on 3 December 2025.

Badaru described the claim as “malicious, false, and baseless,” stressing that it was fabricated to damage his reputation and create friction between him and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He said the motives behind the publication were clear: “to tarnish my hard-earned reputation, sow discord between me and the Commander-in-Chief, and create needless distractions from the important work of governance.”

The former minister noted that the legitimate reasons for his resignation were already formally communicated to President Tinubu and made public through established media channels.

“Any suggestion of an alternative or inflammatory motive is a complete falsehood engineered by mischief makers,” he said.

Badaru reaffirmed his loyalty to President Tinubu and his continued commitment to Nigeria’s peace and security.

He also pledged unwavering support to the All Progressives Congress (APC), especially ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“I remain firmly committed to the peace, security, and stability of our nation,” he stated, assuring party leaders and citizens that he stands solidly with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
