As part of an ongoing reorganisation initiative, the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Damaturu, Dr Ibrahim Bello Bashir, has approved the appointment of new Directors and Deputy Directors, alongside the creation of two new academic departments.

The appointments, effective immediately, include:
- Dr. Bala Salisu – Director, Research Development
- Awwal Ayuba Darki – Director, Entrepreneurship Development Centre
- Ibrahim Ishaku – Director, Vocational Education and Skill Development
- Dr. Zainab Ciroma – Director, Career Development Centre
- Engr. Dr. Falmata Audu – Deputy Director, Entrepreneurship Development Centre
- Engr. Nura Hassan – Deputy Director, Vocational Education and Skill Development
These appointments, outlined in a letter signed by Haruna Abdullahi, Deputy Registrar (Personnel and Pension Matters), are for a three-year term.
Furthermore, Dr. Bashir has established the Departments of Applied Chemistry and Applied Physics, demonstrating a commitment to expanding the Polytechnic’s academic offerings.
“These new departments will enhance the Polytechnic’s capacity to provide relevant and cutting-edge education,” stated Muhd Nura Nguru, Head of Information and Public Relations.
Acting Heads of the newly created departments have also been appointed:
- Ladi Lawan – Acting Head, Department of Applied Chemistry
- Ahmed Goje – Acting Head, Department of Applied Physics
These appointments, detailed in a letter signed by Sa’idu Umar Katuzu, Deputy Registrar (Council and General Administration), are for a one-year term.
“The Rector’s reorganisation efforts are aimed at improving efficiency and effectiveness across the Polytechnic,” Nguru explained. “These appointments will strengthen our leadership team and support our commitment to academic excellence.”
The establishment of the new departments and the appointment of experienced leaders are expected to enhance the Polytechnic’s ability to serve its students and the community.
