
Nigeria marked its inaugural National Police Day on April 7, 2025, with a grand ceremony in Abuja.
The event held at Eagle Square, Abuja, on Monday, April 7th, 2025, showcased police professionalism and equipment.
Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun emphasised the day’s significance for community partnership and service.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, in his address, underscored the importance of National Police Day as a symbol of the NPF’s renewed commitment to professionalism, community partnership, and service excellence.
He expressed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for declaring April 7th as an annual National Police Day and pledged the Force’s dedication to deepening reforms and strengthening its bond with communities.
“The IGP stated the pledge of the Force to deepen its reforms and reinforce its bond with the communities, reiterating the Force’s determination to uphold the rule of law, combat crime, and ensure the safety and security of all Nigerians,” a statement from ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi,force public relations officer force headquarters, Abuja noted.
President Tinubu, represented by Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, pledged improved welfare and modern equipment for the police and commended their efforts in combating insecurity.
In his speech, the president reiterated the federal government’s commitment to improving the welfare of police officers and providing them with modern equipment and technology to enhance their operational capability and efficiency.
“His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to improvement in areas of welfare and provision of modern equipment and technology to improve operational capability and efficiency of the Nigeria Police Force,” the statement read.
He also commended the “courage, resilience, and sacrifices of police officers throughout Nigeria in combatting insecurity”.
The event, attended by government officials and dignitaries, highlighted the police force’s commitment to enhancing capabilities and strengthening community relations.
