In a surprising turn of events, Super Eagles head coach Finidi George has resigned from his position, according to Channels Television.
This comes after a string of underwhelming performances in the ongoing 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Reports suggest the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) wanted George to remain on board in a different capacity, potentially alongside a new foreign technical advisor. However, George opted to step down entirely, allowing the incoming coach to take full control of the team.
The NFF has yet to officially comment on George’s resignation or their plans for the head coach position.
