The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Monday, officially unveiled Finidi George as the new manager of the Super Eagles today at its headquarters in Abuja.
George, a former Nigerian winger who enjoyed a successful playing career with clubs like Ajax and Ipswich Town, takes the reins following the departure of Jose Peseiro after the Africa Cup of Nations in February. Peseiro led the Super Eagles to a runner-up finish in the tournament.
George previously served as Peseiro’s assistant for 20 months and took charge of the team in an interim capacity for two friendlies in Morocco last month. The results were mixed, with a win over Ghana followed by a defeat to Mali.
