Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, has extended the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Food Outreach Scheme to 3,160 households in Kaduna State, targeting persons with disabilities and vulnerable families.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by Kwapchi Bata Hamman of the State House on Wednesday.
The initiative, launched in March 2024, falls under the social investment scope of the RHI and aims to ease food insecurity for underserved communities across Nigeria.
The First Lady was represented at the distribution event, held at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Kaduna, by the wife of the vice president and RHI vice chairperson, Mrs. Nana Shettima.
She explained that the program has so far reached 13 states and the Federal Capital Territory, including Abia, Benue, Gombe, Kano, Delta, Kwara, and Oyo. Plateau and Bayelsa are next in line.

“This initiative goes beyond food distribution—it is about building a stronger and more compassionate community,” Mrs. Shettima said.
“By providing food, we are not only feeding individuals but also fostering hope and dignity for countless families.”
Mrs. Shettima also highlighted RHI’s broader interventions under its economic empowerment scope, including the disbursement of ₦50 million to each state and the FCT to support 1,000 petty traders with ₦50,000 each in 2024.
Based on the impact of that program, she announced a new phase: ₦200,000 cash grants will soon be provided to 250 persons with disabilities in every state, including Kaduna.
“The goal of RHI is to complement the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR—to ensure every Nigerian thrives, regardless of condition or status,” she added.
Kaduna State Governor Senator Uba Sani, represented by his Chief of Staff, Sani Liman Kila, commended the First Lady’s commitment to uplifting the poor and vulnerable. He urged wealthy Nigerians and other public-spirited individuals to emulate the gesture.
The event concluded with the symbolic handover of food items to the wife of the governor of Kaduna State, Mrs. Hafsat Uba Sani.
