Former Borno State House of Assembly member, Hon. Aliyu Mamman Kachalla Opanka, has officially returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Opanka, who represented Biu Constituency, had defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before the 2023 general elections, where he unsuccessfully contested the assembly seat.
He was formally received at the partyโs State Secretariat in Maiduguri by the APC State Secretary, Barrister Loskorima.
After the receiving ceremony, the delegation later visited the Government House, where they were received by the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Alhaji Umar Usman Kadafur.
Hon. Opanka pledged his “total loyalty and support” to the APC leadership and assured he would “work tirelessly for the progress and development” of the party and Borno State.
The Deputy Governor welcomed Opanka back, “commending his decision to return.” He assured the former lawmaker of the governmentโs “readiness to work closely with him” and “tap from his wealth of political experience.”
