The Adamawa State Police Command said it has arrested a suspect in connection with a disturbing video that went viral, depicting the physical abuse of a woman in the Angwan Tana area of Jimeta.
According to a press release issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer for the Adamawa State Command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the incident occurred on March 13th, 2025.
The victim, identified as 22-year-old Salamatu Yakubu, also of Angwan Tana, was reportedly physically assaulted and severely beaten.
During the assault, an individual recorded the incident, and the video was subsequently shared on various social media platforms, causing widespread outrage and concern.

The Adamawa State Police Command stated that it received numerous calls from concerned citizens, NGOs, and civil society organisations regarding the distressing footage.
Acting swiftly, the police were able to apprehend the suspect with the assistance of community members through established community policing strategies.
The victim, Salamatu Yakubu, has been taken to a hospital for medical treatment and is reported to be responding well.
The arrested suspect is currently in custody at the Gender Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), where a thorough investigation is underway.
SP Nguroje assured the public that the case is being treated with utmost seriousness.
He stated that a diligent investigation will be conducted, and the suspect will be prosecuted under the relevant sections of the law.
