The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division and Commander Sector 1, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu, has charged newly promoted senior officers to remain steadfast in upholding professionalism, discipline, and loyalty in the discharge of their duties.
This is contained in a statement issued on Thursday by Lieutenant Colonel Haruna Mohammed Sani, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 7 Division, Nigerian Army.
He gave the charge during the decoration ceremony of three newly promoted colonels held at the Theatre Command Officersโ Mess, Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri, on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
Brigadier General Unachukwu congratulated the officers on their elevation, describing it as a reward for hard work and dedication to service.
He urged them to serve as exemplary leaders who inspire subordinates and ensure the welfare and safety of their troops in line with the Command Philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede.
โPromotion comes with greater responsibility. You must continue to exhibit loyalty and discipline and uphold the high standards of professionalism that define the Nigerian Army,โ the GOC stated.
The ceremony also featured a farewell parade for five officers posted out of the division to various formations across the country.
Brigadier General Unachukwu commended their commitment and contributions to the successes of Operation HADIN KAI, wishing them success in their new assignments.
โYour dedication and sacrifices have contributed immensely to the operational progress of the Division. We thank you for your service and wish you well as you take on new responsibilities,โ he said.
Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted and redeployed officers, Colonel Chidi Okonkwo expressed gratitude to the COAS for the recognition, pledging renewed loyalty and commitment to the Nigerian Army.
โThis promotion is a call to greater service. We are deeply motivated to do more for the Army and the nation,โ Okonkwo remarked.
The event was attended by formation and unit commanders, principal staff officers, officers, troops, and families of the newly promoted officers.
